18th November 2001

An update finally!  I must apologise to my loyal fans for leaving this site stagnant for so long.  Quick word - I am now a qualified doctor!  I'll add photos of my trip to Singapore and Malaysia in October, then backtrack and fill in the gaps.  Have a look at some photos here.

Not a good day.  Mobile phone has been run over by a car.   I foolishly had my handsfree kit clipped to my jacket.  When I got out of the car, it must have dragged my mobile out of the car and onto a wet road with many cars.   It was only when I got back in the car that I realised that my mobile was not there.  Lo and behold, it was in the middle of the road (in Tooting no less).   Quickly made a dash to retrieve my phone.  Promptly discovered that it was soaking and in a few pieces.  Half of the flip and the antenna had come off, and the case was cracked.  Had a minute of silence to mourn the loss of my mobile.  However, when it had dried off the next day, it worked intermittently!  It must be the solid metal frame of the phone which saved it.   Eventually managed to get it replaced on my insurance.  Unfortunately, this meant waiting for forms and packaging from one2one to arrive, posting it off, and then waiting for a replacement by post.  All in all, I was without a mobile for over a week.  I barely survived.

Held a South Pacific birthday party at the flat.  Dress code: tropical.  Check out the decorations done by Emma and my 2 flatmates, Chris Mellor and Adam.

This is my local pizza delivery.  It has saved me many a time when I had no time (okay, when I was too lazy) to cook.   Respect.

Bought a digital camera!  It's a fantastic, tiny, shiny thing which takes wonderful pictures (weak flash notwithstanding) and also has a built-in MP3 player!   It's the Fujifilm Finepix 40i.  So, hopefully it will be quicker for me to put pictures on the website now.  For a review of it, as well as some pictures of it, check this link. You will have to agree that it looks gorgeous.

Arrived in Tonga, the Friendly Isles!   Being driven through the town, you notice lots of shops selling HUGE tins of corned beef.   I am adding pics slowly but surely.

Arrived in Sydney!  Can't believe the winter here is warmer than the crappy summer in London.  I must say it's a very nice city.  Far cleaner than London, and much cheaper petrol!  Check out more pics.

Flying off for my medical elective!  Hurray.   It's Singapore for a week, Sydney for a week, Tonga (that's near Fiji for those who are not in the know), then Los Angeles for a week before coming back to London.

Been to the Gower peninsular in Wales.  I think that was the only sunny bit in all of England that weekend.  Stayed in a lovely bed & breakfast at the Old Rectory.  A really friendly and hospital couple run it, and it is within stumbling distance to a pub called the King Arthur.  Convenient.   The Gower really has some stunning scenery, beaches and cliffs.  Have a look here!
